Last year we tried out a new starting location and completely new set of routes for our annual fall century ride. The new location received very favorable reviews from riders so we are returning there this year. Registration and the after-ride party will take place at Stewart's Seafood & Steakhouse which is on the corner of LA 16 & LA 450 near Franklinton in Washington Parish. This location is commonly known as "Cucumber Corner."
All four of the century routes will be on quiet, scenic, rolling to hilly roads of western Washington Parish and northeastern Tangipahoa Parish. Route maps and road markings will point the way, and helpful volunteers at strategically placed rest stops will stand ready with cool water and tasty snacks. Once back at Stewarts Seafood, you will enjoy a hearty post-ride meal with beer and soft drinks.
While the century is designed to be an enjoyable experience, the event is held on public roads open to other vehicles. Riders should expect to encounter motorists and be prepared for road hazards. Participants should operate their bicycles in a safe and lawful manner and obey traffic laws throughout the ride. The CCC requires the use of ANSI or Snell approved helmets for all club rides including the century. Everyone is encouraged to ride with a partner; children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Registration

The registration fee for the Crescent City Century is $35. You may register online at active.com, or at http://www.crescentcitycyclists.org/online_century_reg.html . The century fee includes SAG support, restroom facilities at the start, maps, road surface markings, and lunch with beer and soda following the ride.
All pre-registered riders will receive a free Polar brand insulated water bottle with Crescent City Cyclists logo. Water bottles will not be provided for day of event registrations. To receive a water bottle, your pre-registration must be postmarked by Saturday, September 12, 2009. Members of Crescent City Cyclists who pre-register by September 12 will pay a discounted price of $30. This discount is valid for pre-registration only. All registrants will pay $35 on the day of the century. Non-members may join CCC and save $5 on their century fee by submitting a membership application and dues ($18/yr individual, $25/yr family) along with their century pre-registration.

Please note:

The century will be limited to 500 riders. To be sure you are able to ride, please send in your registration as soon as possible.

This is a "rain or shine" event; not much short of a hurricane bearing down on us will force a postponement. If the unthinkable should happen be sure to call the CCC Hotline (888-901-9581) for rescheduling information.
Please fill out the registration form and mail it in with your registration fee while you are thinking about it. Or you can register on our website: www.crescentcitycyclists.org.
